Bio

Due to the miracles of modern medicine and the pill’s 2% failure rate, Sterling was born and raised as a latchkey kid in Dayton, Ohio. It appears that this extended alone time, with radio, television, library books and the voices in his head led him down a dark hallway and into his college radio station. Eventually, Sterling found an appropriate outlet for his energies getting his start at rock stations the Big WAZU and WTUE, while gaining valuable experience in format changes and termination of employment.

He soon ended up at WRNO, known then as the Rock of New Orleans as Music Director and evening host, where he enjoyed more than his share of chicory coffee, beignets, étouffée and yet another station sale, format flip and premature discharge. This change brought Sterling back to Ohio to do afternoons as Assistant Program Director for alternative WAQZ in Cincinnati- where City Beat readers voted him personality of the year two years in a row. Eventually, this move proved to be life altering when Sterling was asked to try talk radio on The Big One, 700 WLW.
Apparently, the powers that be at WLW found Sterling’s attitude, varied interests and his desire to understand what makes people tick, compelling. Who knew? Well, the audience was about to speak.

In June of 1999, Sterling jumped at the opportunity to do a full time talk show for WTVN, and moved, once again, this time to Columbus, Ohio. In addition to doing an evening talk show on WTVN, he also handled afternoon drive and the Music Director position for the now defunct alternative rocker- 105.7 FM Channel Z.

Sterling thrived in the evenings and become a high profile member of Columbus media. He entertained the masses from different locations around the city - from the Summer of Sterling™ to Homeless and Alone™ in the winter, where he annually broadcasted outside for several days while collecting truck loads of food, clothing, furniture and toys for those less fortunate. Sterling also became a regular guest commentator on “hot button” issues both on local television news and newspapers.

In October of 2004 Sterling began a new path in radio. Going out on his own, Sterling can now be found on a growing number of legendary talk stations- KSTP, WHAS, KDKA and WLW to name a few- filling in for some of the biggest names in the industry.

Making sense of the senseless, Sterling engages newsmakers, entertainers and callers in conversation that is sometimes outrageous, occasionally controversial and always thought provoking. He is ahead of the curve and always knows what is going on- in your city, the US and around the world. Listeners are entertained and feel better for being a part of his shows and getting the facts.

Through sarcasm, outrageous humor and irreverent attitude, Sterling regularly exposes politicians, the media and anyone else who deserves to be questioned. Most of all, Sterling is about entertaining his audience while finding the truth, engaging his listeners and making fun of the human species, including himself.

It's therapeutic entertainment for the masses. Sterling and his listeners have a damn good time doing it one day at a time.
